Ask Lou: June 2010
Q: I was just wondering, if you could tell your fans one thing about yourself, what would it be? - Tracy
• Tracy, if I could tell all the people that have supported my career through the years one thing it would be I love attention and I am grateful you've given it to me.
Q: You always wear such, beautiful outfits. Do you have a stylist? - Joseph
• Joseph, I have used several great designers over the years. If you saw me in something you didn't care for I probably designed it myself.
Q: What is your favorite vacation spot? - Sean
• Sean, I really never thought about it before because I spend most of my spare time working outside. But, I am very excited because my mom is sending my daughter Nicole and I on a two week cruise to Hawaii next year. They say planning is half the fun. Nicole and I are planning our excursions and wardrobe.
Q: Just wondering if you ever think you will have Pedro in your shows again? When the two of you hit the stage together, you have a magic that comes to life on stage.
• I am so glad you asked about Pedro. I love him like a brother. Although he is busy in East Tennessee, he is kind of enough to find time to direct and choreograph my Christmas show at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville Tn.
Q: What do you do with all of the special gifts that your fans have given you throughout the years? - Tamara
• Tamara, I am grateful for all the thoughtful and generous gifts I have been given through the years. Most of them are in storage to make room for my husband. Please tell your mother hello for me.
Q: Outside of country music, who is one of your greatest influences? - Sam
• Sam, Sammy Davis Jr and Tony Orlando because even though they are obviously male entertainers they had beautiful hand gestures that made it appear as if they were dancing. Both of them were gifted with great stage presence and warmth where everyone in the audience left feeling as if they were not only thoroughly entertained, but they felt as if they had a good visit with a friend. I worked with both of these entertainers and they became friends who took the time to encourage me in my career.
Q: I was wondering when your theater officially closed and if you had a special farewell show? Thanks! Lona Mason
• Lona, I am so glad you made your family sit through so many of my shows. I hope you will bring them to see my Christmas show at Gaylord Opryland. We closed the theater on New Years Eve bringing in 2006. It was difficult to say goodbye to so many friends.

Q: I was wondering, what song moves you the most when you sing it?
• I have three songs that I love to sing. It is difficult to pick my favorite. It is like picking a favorite sister. All three are so different yet give me such joy to perform. I enjoy singing "Night Life" written by Willie Nelson. I think it's the best blues number ever written and the lyrics fit any entertainer that has worked full time. Whenever I have a personal challenge in my life I listen or sing "Through it All" written by Rev. Andre Crouch. I had the privilege of meeting and working with him in the Eighties. My niece Christy Sutherland, who just won female vocalist at the Diamond awards last night, wrote a song that ministers to me while I sing it. The song "You Call Me Yours" talks about how God sees us. If you ever have a time in your life when your not feeling good about yourself then listen to the encouraging words of Christy's song.
Q: Louise, How is John and do you two shoot any longer? Thanks, Bill O.
• Bill, my husband John is not doing well and I appreciate everyone's concern and continued prayers. I am sorry to say John and I have not gone out shooting together in several years, but I have not given up hope. I am looking forward to attending a special event where my sister Irlene is paying tribute to my dad at her Charity Shoot in Penn. I have not shot since her event last year, but I am not nervous about beating my sisters.
